Some offers do more than remove a barrier. They open a possible story.
A Story Door is an optional experience, encounter or resource offered around the funded programme. It might open access to a landscape, archive, craft, local expert or unfamiliar activity that could spark a participant's thinking.
It is not a prize, perk or route into the cohort.
Open a door
A place, person, object, archive, landscape or practical skill creates a new starting point.
Prepare a question
The participant decides what they are curious about before the encounter.
Experience it
They visit, meet, listen, observe or try something with the right access and safety arrangements.
Capture traces
Notes, sound, images or memories are gathered only where appropriate and with consent.
Reflect
The participant works out what the encounter actually means for their own story.
Choose
They decide whether any of it belongs in their final work. There is no obligation to use it.
Around the funded core programme, local organisations and individuals are beginning to open extra doors. Those extras can help stories travel further, but they never determine who belongs in the room.
